Protecting the environment around Aspen is essential to enjoying the activities we all love. So we minimize our impact while leveraging our brand and voice to make broader change. All our lighting is LED, and we cut CO2 emissions 300 tons a year by replacing our boilers. We are pleased to offer guests electric car chargers and have eight fully electric vehicles in our hotel fleet, including our Audi e-tron which guests can test drive. Our gardens are pesticide free and conserve water by using a drip irrigation system. We’ve advocated for our utility to transition to renewable energy and have eliminated the majority of single-use plastics.

The Environment Foundation is our employee founded and led nonprofit, supporting local conservation, clean energy, and climate action. More than 1,100 staff from Aspen One contribute, and both Aspen Community Foundation and our company match every employee dollar. Thanks to our guests, $2 of every night stay supports the foundation too. We’ve been able to donate more than $4.5 million since the Foundation’s inception. The board distributes 100% of funds to nonprofits and trains our staff to be philanthropists. It’s some of the most optimistic work we do and we appreciate you being a part of it.

Sustainability is part of our DNA at Ajax Tavern, Element 47, and Little Nell events. We partner with Farm Runners and spend over $200,000 on local food each year, contributing to the local economy.
We compost all food waste, diverting more than 400,000 pounds of organics from the landfill annually. We are also working to reduce our food waste using Kitro, an AI tool that tracks waste.
While eliminating plastics and sustainable gardening are important, they won’t solve the climate crisis alone. We encourage you to learn about these issues and question how you can use your power to influence change.
In your room, you’ll find a copy of our Sustainability Report as well as Auden Schendler’s Terrible Beauty. We hope they’ll help you understand our approach and think about what you can do. Maybe that looks like advocating for environmental policies, donating to climate nonprofits, or having tough conversations with friends and family. We’re all in this together, so we hope you join us in fighting for climate solutions.
